Everyone wants to practice the art of "living well" but when it comes down to it what does that really mean? Traveling the world, eating expensive food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, or owning 3 luxury cars? Or does it mean wearing a new outfit, having a successful day at work, or going for a walk with the one you love? Well no matter what your lifestyle is, you can always live it well because it's your life and you have the power to make it amazing.
1. Make the most of what you have
Living well starts with appreciating what you have. And by that I mean your body. Find styles that tailor to your body and don't fret about the styles that don't. Flaunt what you have because no matter what, you're beautiful.
2. Be in love with your life
Find what you're passionate about in this life and say "no" to things you could care less about. Life's too short to waste your time on non-essentials.
3. Don't punish yourself
The "no pain, no gain" method works for a small amount of people in my opinion. If you do a workout routine that is painful, you're most likely not going to want to get up and do it again the next day. Find activities that you truly enjoy and your physique will reflect that pleasure soon enough.
4. Age doesn't matter
Your age doesn't make a difference in terms of what you want to do or more importantly what you can do. Don't give up on yourself because you feel like you're good years are gone or stop yourself from doing something because you feel like you're too young. Just do it. It's your life and it'll make you happy.
5. Eat good food
Serious question, why would you deprive yourself of wonderful food? Because one cookie is going to make you gain 20 lbs? No it won't. Enjoy a little of everything. Don't go out and eat a doughnut a day, but I promise it's okay to have one once in awhile.
6. Flaunt what you've got
Show off what you have and not what you want. Don't wait to lose 10 lbs to dress well. If you dress well now, you'll love yourself now. It's really that simple.
7. Feel good + look good
You know the term "you get what you give?" Well if you put effort in to looking good, you'll also feel good. But it does involve a little work. Don't go out looking like you rolled out of bed. Put yourself together before you leave the house and you'll feel so good about yourself when you look at your reflection in a window pane. You'll be thinking, "Damn, I look good and that only took 30 minutes."
8. Be yourself
As Amy Poehler's Smart Girls would say, "Change the world by being yourself." Always incorporate your uniqueness in to everything you do. Be silly, be colorful, be quirky, whatever you feel like you are, be that.
9. Be natural
Don't paint yourself with makeup. Use minimal makeup and let your natural beauty shine through. Simple hair is sexy. A little bit of this and a little bit of that is all you need.
10. Respect yourself
If you had a rough day, of course it's alright to have a glass of wine. But 3 or 4 or 5? No that's just harming your body and will probably cause you to have another bad day again the next day. Give yourself what you want but don't over do it.
11. Treat yo self
It's just as important to feel good as it is to look good. Take some down time at least once a week to have some you time and take a bath, go get a manicure, treat yourself to a yummy smoothie after you hit up the gym. Indulge yourself in the small things that put a smile on your face more often than you think you should because you always deserve a small treat for your awesomeness.
12. Accept yourself
It's really hard to completely change your body image with the snap of your fingers. Happiness does not depend on your pants size, so stop letting that control it. You'll be a lot happier if you have confidence in yourself from the inside out starting now.
13. It's about the small things
Small things happen more frequent than big things. Appreciate what you wake up to, a little treat you have with lunch, the smell of freshly cut grass, the coziness of a thunderstorm. If you smile at the small things as well as the big things, you'll be smiling all the time.
