Our very first stop after deboarding our plane in San Francisco was At&T Park for a Giants game! It's no secret I'm a huge Cubs fan and just love baseball in general. Ironically later in the trip the Giants were in Chicago playing the Cubs, but while we were there the Giants played the Phillies. I enjoy going to games even when the team isn't playing the Cubs because I just love the atmosphere that comes with a baseball game.
It's a goal of mine to go to every baseball park in America throughout my life time. I love seeing the special rituals all the fans have, and the cool little extra things the parks have. At AT&T Park, they have a giant Coke bottle and a giant glove in the outfield. The statue of Willie Mays out front is also incredible. Plus those palm trees!
The food was delicious at the park, too! We both had brats and garlic fries, and those garlic fries are really as good as everyone in San Fransisco claims. The only part I wasn't too thrilled about was that I paid $12 for a tiny cup of Sierra Nevada beer. It was decent beer, but $12 for 12oz of beer!? That's $1 an ounce! But what ya gonna do...that's how it goes at some ballparks.
Like I've said many times before, Caleb grew up in Sonoma County and has spent his fair share of time in San Fransisco and going to Giants games. It was always tradition for him to go to Mel's Diner after games for a late night dinner, so that's just what we did! I of course opted for two desserts instead of a late night dinner though. The apple pie and vanilla shake were so delicious! I thoroughly enjoyed my "late night dinner" at Mel's and highly recommend stopping by this diner for your own double dessert night.
Until next time, GO CUBS GO! ;)
