Our little home is coming together more and more basically every day. We pick up a trinket here, a book there, some new flowers every weekend. It's been such a fun adventure. I'm appreciating the slow turn around because I always have something to look forward to. At the beginning of March, Caleb and I did a huge spring cleaning of our apartment and "springerized" the place. We replaced our cozy winter throw pillows for some new spring ones and added more color to our living room. So here I present our springerized living room!
I am becoming more and more satisfied with this room all the time. The only major thing I want to change about it is the tables. Caleb is planning on building a new coffee table out of reclaimed wood this upcoming summer, which I think will add a more cozy feel to the room. We are not really in to the modern look of glass and clean lines, so we think a quaint little dinged up table that has a nice story behind it will complete the look perfectly.
Of course more needs to be added to the shelves, but it is slowly but surely coming together. We buy new books as we need them, and Caleb actually came across some awesome history books yesterday that are of the coffee table type, which we will add to that 2nd to the bottom shelf with our Gap and Life coffee table books. You might ask why we don't keep our coffee table books on our actual coffee table, but if you look at the picture above, the table is kind of small, not leaving much space for books plus whatever else we might have on it throughout the day. We sometimes work from our couch or when we're feeling lazy, we eat on the couch and watch TV. Yes...we're those people sometimes. We might transition them over depending on the size of the table Caleb builds for us this summer, but for now, they will help take up some space on our beautiful bookcases.
Bookcases:
Hemnes Bookcase
Ikea
$149 each
An awesome tidbit about one of our bookcases is that we found it in the resale section of Ikea. We got it for $40! We always keep our eye for more like this that need to be fixed up a little bit. With a little wood glue and black paint, you can't even tell anything was wrong with it.

Wrigley is our child; therefore, requiring a toy box. I picked up this cute little box at Home Goods for $25! I have been searching high and low for a cute "toy box" for him that wouldn't break the bank. For some reason dog toy boxes are expensive? So, I was very excited when I found this and could make it in to exactly what I wanted. A little chalk calligraphy done by me and bone drawing done by Caleb, and voila, Wrigley has his own little area for his toys. Naturally he goes to it and takes every single thing back out of it after we put them away, but oh well, maybe one day he will learn. Above the toy box is the picture collage Caleb put together for me last year for our anniversary. I cherish things like that so much and always want it hanging somewhere that can be seen all the time and by all. I'm not crazy about it having to be off centered due to the lamp, but with the layout of the room, that is the only place the floor lamp fits and emits enough light to light up the room at night.
Pretty much the only things I want to change/add to this picture are making the wall behind the couch a gallery wall and like I said before, changing out the coffee table to the wood one that Caleb will be making. Otherwise, I am more than satisfied with our comfy couch, throw pillows, and end table decor!

That good old trusty chair is my love. It was one of those exciting end of the school year outside our Ames apartment finds that we couldn't resist not snatching. No worries, we disinfected the crap out of it. It is so comfy though, and it has it's worn down parts, but I have vowed to not get rid of it. It reminds me of a harder time in life and to not take for granted what I have in my home now. Plus, why would I get rid of something so comfortable?! It will go in my future house's basement...or until is completely falls apart.

So that's it! Of course if any of you have any recommendations for me to liven up this room even more please let me know! Also, if you see any trinkets or other things and you'd like to know where they are from, feel free to ask in the comments on this post.
Until next time, Happy Spring!
