Hello there! It's been awhile since this little section of Yellow Mondays has seen anything new. We are in the process of fixing up the blog section of the site now since the main site is filled with up to date and reliable information for travelers!
Blog update: Like I said above, we're currently constructing a nice and new blog area of Yellow Mondays. We're planning on posting a new blog post every Monday (of course, right?) with anything from fashion and beauty to in depth location guides and travel tips. You will be able to easily navigate through these categories to find only fashion, only in depth location guides, etc, too.
Site update: We will be posting on a more routine basis on the main site, too. You can expect to see new itineraries posted every Wednesday and updates/new city guides posted every Friday. Don't forget, you can send in requests for locations any time using the Say Hello option, as well as request a personal itinerary from us using the same form.
Life update: For those wondering what has been keeping us from keeping up with Yellow Mondays on the regular here it is. In the last 6 months, Caleb and I have gotten married, traveled around Europe, enjoyed the holidays with our family, and bought a house!
Starting with our wedding, it was honestly the best day ever. The day was filled with all of our friends and family together, pure love, and gorgeous weather. We got married in our home church and held our reception at a country club in the suburbs. It all felt like a fairy tale. Even Wrigley made an appearance with a cute little bow tie! Again, thank you to everyone who came to support our love and for those who have given us kind words and love since.
C and I spent our honeymoon traveling through Turkey and Italy. We had a long stop over in Istanbul and were able to spend some quality time with our aunt, uncle, and cousin who live out there. We tried the cuisine (which is delicious!), explored one of the most historical areas in the world (the hippodrome), and shopped for goods in a baazar. We had the opportunity to do all of this on our flight over to Europe and back home to the US. In between, we explored Italy! We spent 4 days in Rome, 2 days in Florence, 1 day in the Tuscan countryside, 1 day in the Cinque Terre, and 1 day in Pisa. Rome was probably our favorite due to the fact that we are huge history nerds and love architecture, but there is definitely something special about everywhere we went. The food was outstanding, with my favorite being a slice of cheese pizza I got near Vatican City and Caleb's was a dinner that we had in Florence that consisted of ossobuco, gnocchi, tomato soup, and wine...lots and lots of wine. We had a bottle of wine with every dinner and were proud of it! Our favorite sites in Rome were the Vatican and the Colosseum, in Florence the Galleria dell'Accademia (where The David is kept) and the Boboli Gardens. The best part about our time in the Tuscan countryside besides all the amazing wine, was we had the opportunity to meet a gelato connoisseur and learn how to make gelato! Of course we tried a bunch of flavors and our all time favorite is now ricotta with fig preserves. We had it fresh out of the machine and we are now ruined for life. One of the best experiences we had though was heading out to the sea to see the Cinque Terre National Park. The park consists of 5 coastal towns (cinque means five in Italian). We got to walk through the little towns, boat from one to another, and also take the train to a couple of others. We got to see 4 out of the 5 and had the chance to shop, have some of the best pesto of our lives, lounge on the beach, and eat gelato...twice. It was the trip of a lifetime and we can't wait to go back!
We're loving every little bit of living in our house, especially Wrigley! We moved to the northern suburbs of Chicago, so now were right smack in the middle of Chicago and Milwaukee. We love the location so much as we get to explore two amazing cities on the regular now. We are also a lot closer to our day jobs, too, which makes day to day life so much easier. The home decor is slowly coming together...we need a lot more furniture to fill the new place! We ended up buying a 4 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath with a 2 1/2 car garage and a little backyard. With the weather finally turning our first big project is going to be fixing up the front and back yard and decorating our deck! We're thinking along the lines of a beautiful outside oasis with some small gardens in front and back. Since we're making this blog part a little bit more personal now, I will probably add a few home posts in here and there just to keep you all updated on our home life!
We're really looking forward to spring and summer in Chicago so that we can all come out of hibernation. We put together a small little spring adventure list plus I created what I call a 30x30 list. I turned 25 at the beginning of the month and I made a list of 30 things I want to accomplish by the time I'm 30. Look for a post in the future on what it consists of!
As always, if there is anything that you guys are interested in or want to see more of please shoot us an e-mail and let us know! But for now I leave you by saying, Happy Monday!
