Summerfest is the world's biggest musical and it is held every year in Milwaukee, WI. Caleb and I started going to the festival last year and haven't looked back since. We love going and plan on going every year we possibly can. We always get the 3 day pass because it is only $45 a person! That gets you in all day long and you can go to any of the stages except the Marcus Amphitheater. Such a steal. Anyways, we decided this year to make our first day at Summerfest be Saturday, June 27th, which allowed us time to spend all day exploring Milwaukee!
We arrived in Milwaukee early in the afternoon and decided to embrace the beer city and have a drink right away. We were waiting to board our historic boat tour and there happened to be a local brewery right next to the dock. How lucky, right? I had a blonde ale called Gold Digger and Caleb had a Hefenwizen called Unshadowed at Ale Asylum.
Like I said we had decided to do a historic boat tour that took us down the Milwaukee River. It was a beautiful day to be out on the water and we learned so much! The tour lasted about an hour and a half and we got to hear all about Milwaukee's history and how it became to be the wonderful city it is today.
In the middle of the tour we got to ride around the harbor and appreciate the Milwaukee skyline from Lake Michigan. It was a bit chilly but so enjoyable. Our tour was through Edelweiss Boat Tours and they offer many other tours besides the historic tour like a champagne brunch tour and a beer and brat tour! We will definitely be taking those in the future.
Pardon our hair please, it was quite windy!

After deboarding the boat tour we had a tasty lunch at Buck Bradley's. The food was wonderful and we got to eat outside, which made it even that much better. It was a short walk from the dock where we were at for the boat tour and we were seated right away! We ordered the soup of the day which was a spicy black bean soup, the grilled sausage combo, and a monterey cajun chicken sandwich. Everything was excellent! We will we stopping back there on future trips up to Milwaukee.
After walking around a little bit and doing some shopping at the Anthropologie in the Historic Third Ward, we made our way over to Summerfest!
The first set we saw was Motion City Soundtrack. They are a band Caleb and I have been listening to since we were in junior high and we reminisced about a lot of good memories while enjoying the music! After their show we were going to leave real quick to grab some dinner, but we learned that there is no re-entry in to the festival after 7pm! So, we decided we would just find food at the festival. Since we weren't starving we decided ice cream would be a good dinner! We are obsessed with Cedar Crest ice cream...we had it all 3 days we went to Summerfest. On the first day I got Pirates Booty in a waffle cone. It was everything I remembered from last year and made me oh so happy! We stayed for Third Eye Blind's set and then headed back down to Chicago. It was a wonderful day up in Milwaukee, as always!
