Happy Friday! I'm back today to chat about another book or should I say play! One of my life goals is to read all of William Shakespare's works. I'm a big fan and it's always been one of those fun antidotes I want to be able to say about myself! Last week I checked another play off my list of works I've read, "Two Gentlemen of Verona."

In America, we celebrate a national holiday called Labor Day on the first Monday of September. It's supposed to be a day to enjoy off of work for the social and economic successes of the people in our country. It also tends to be deemed the "last weekend" of summer. It's a big travel weekend here in the States and one of the most popular things to do is to go camping! Want to know one of the best places to go enjoy the outdoors, time away with your dog(s), and to go hiking in the Midwest? Starved Rock State Park in Oglesby, IL!
A big and exciting event happens every year here in the good ole Midwest right after Independence Day and goes all the way till right after Labor Day. The Renaissance Faire! This faire is huge and fun and the people that go get really really in to it. Now there is a lot to do and see at the Ren Faire but if you're going for the first time then there are some must see/do's that you need to add and check off your list!
If you look at any list of places in Portland you have to eat, undoubtedly Pok Pok is featured somewhere on the list. It has been featured on a number of Food Network shows, including Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives, as well as by The Economist, Travel Channel, NPR, Bon Appetit, the New York Times, and many more. It’s always busy and is well reviewed, and for good reason!
Pok Pok is located on SE Division Street, which is a very Portland feeling neighborhood. There are many restaurants, shops, bars, and houses in this growing area. Like many Portland establishments, Po Pok began as a food cart that quickly grew into the phenomenon it is today. This place has been on my radar since I arrived in Portland, so I was grateful for an excuse to go when some friends from home happened to be passing through. The exterior almost looks like it is a shack carved out of a hill. The entrance and much of the front half of the restaurant are semi-open air. It has a chill, beachy vibe to it! We were lucky enough to get right in (5:45 on a Tuesday), however, that is not the norm. Expect to wait awhile, and be pleasantly surprised if you don't have to! They do not accept reservations for parties less than six.
Very very high on my must go to list is Brazil. Specifically, Rio de Janeiro. I am dying to climb up to see the Christ the Redeemer statue and try real authentic Brazilian food. Every time the 2016 Olympics is talked about my wanderlust for Rio grows even more. Here are the top 5 things on my list for when we visit Rio in (cross your fingers) a few years!
Chicago has some of the most beautiful outdoor spaces I've ever been to. Parks, gardens, conservatories, the lakefront, it's a gorgeous place! And who would think that when half the year we live in a frigid snow globe? Well it's true though, Chicago has some marvelous places, especially when all the snow melts away and the sun comes out to play.

One of the things on our travel bucket list is to visit all the state capitals in the US. It's a great way to get to all 50 states and see some incredible architecture! We figured we would start the list with our own state's capital, Springfield!
(Yes, we have been to Des Moines, IA many times, but we've never been inside the capitol building itself, so we are not counting Des Moines just yet.)
The most common comment that I get about my love for travel is how expensive it is. I always seem to shrug it off and shoot right back, well it's actually not that bad? Maybe I know something that others don't, so I'm here to share with you a few tips on how to save money to travel and while traveling!
