Friends, I'm obsessed. My woman crush on Amy has grown exponentially. I'm deeming this "Amy" week. I finished her book yesterday, watched her host the Golden Globes, and the final season of Parks and Recreation starts tomorrow. So yeah, Happy Amy Week!
Yes Please by Amy Poehler was fantastic. Really really fantastic. She made me laugh, she made me cry, she made my heart almost explode. I never realized one person could do as much as she has done in 42 years of life. Seriously, WOW.
The book takes you through different times and sections of her life and continually inspires you. She talks about her hard times and her successful times. It ranges from her life growing up to how important her children are to her. She talks a lot about UCB and SNL because those were obviously huge parts of her life and what helped her to get to where she is now. However, and I know it might sound biased coming from me because I love Parks and Rec so much, but it was the best chapter. No joke, I was reading it at my desk at work during my lunch break and was actually tearing up. Slightly embarrassing, but I don't even care. Amy hits it right on the head with this quote that she inserted in to the Parks chapter from Maya Angelou, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." It's not just that show, because yes all of the actors on Parks help this factor on the show, but Amy as a person does this, too. She makes me feel inspired. Smart Girls at the Party makes me feel great to be who I am. Amy motivates me to do more because she's always doing more. So I will always say "Yes Please" to more Amy Poehler
