A true classic. I've read it before, but before this time around, I never really had a chance to appreciate it. In high school I had to annotate it and in college I would pick it up too few and far between to really capture what was going on in the story. This time though, the novel was magical. Like all of Austen's other novels, Pride and Prejudice, starts out a little slow and you wonder if it's even worth your time. It did take me a long time to read, but that's okay. The syntax is slightly complex, and it's just a slower read. Once you get to the 3rd volume in the novel though, everything starts happening, and I would get really excited when I had time during the day to sit down and read some more. Of course I already knew what happens, but it's like Kathleen Kelly in You've Got Mail says, "I'm always in agony over whether Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy are finally going to get together!" It's so true. No matter how many times you read it, the way it is written keeps you on your toes. There's so much to it that every time you read it over again, you understand more and appreciate more of it. It's set in England like the rest of her novels, and is a love story that defies the way of the culture by choosing to spend the rest of your life with someone you love rather than choosing based off of money and prestige. There is literally a lot of pride and prejudice that goes on between the characters, but in the end the story shows the importance of admitting you're wrong, which in turns gives you everything in the world that you could possibly dream of!
