I'm going to take you back to the past today for #FlashBackFriday with some pre-Yellow Mondays adventures! Not only are we going to venture in to our past but America's past! I figured since I have a month free of travel I would highlight some of the amazing places Caleb and I went to in New York City a couple years ago. These places of course still exist and are still as interesting as ever. Plus, I wanted to give you all a little look inside some of the places we went to since they are on the New York City city guide. So let's start with a blast from the past at the American Museum of Natural History!
PS - Please forgive the picture quality. At this point in our lives we did not have our DSLR and used our iPhone 4s's and a little digital camera to capture these adventures.

The very last place we went to when we were in New York City was the American Museum of Natural History! It was a great way to end our trip since we're such history nerds. The museum was included in our City Pass we purchased during the trip and it was well worth the trip to the Upper West Side to stroll around inside.
Just like other history museums, the American Museum of Natural History has many different sections of all the times in history. Pretty self explanatory. You have your dinosaur era, Native American era, there's a section about space discovery, animal evolution, etc.
The coolest part about going to history museums for Caleb and I is just the learning aspect of them. I feel like I always learn something new. We were fresh out of college when we went to New York City (it was our graduation present to each other), and it was so exciting to be able to explore and learn random bits here and there rather than having to sit down with a textbook and jam pack your brain full of information you're probably not going to retain 2 months later. But by going to a museum, you get to pick and choose what you want to read and hopefully retain. That's what I love about them, it's just me exploring and learning what catches my eye.
It's also pretty cool that this is the museum from the movie Night at the Museum. When I posted the above picture on Instagram everyone asked if that was Robin Williams...silly friends! My favorite part of the AMNH was the dinosaurs. They are just so massive and I really enjoy learning about them. Since everyone is still learning about them it's always fun to go back to the exhibits to see what new discoveries have been made.
If you ever find yourself in New York City and have a few hours to explore, I recommend using them to explore the American Museum of Natural History. You'll have a blast!
