Packing for this trip was a challenge that I was excited for but also dreading. At first, Caleb and I were going to try just bringing one suitcase for the both of us. After we started though, we realized what a bad idea that was going to be. We weren't going to have any room to bring goodies back home with us and were running the risk of our baggage being to heavy to even begin with. So we upgraded to two suitcases and a carry on each. We had 13 days to pack for so that's pretty good if you think about it! Here's a breakdown of all I packed for each day.

Even though the main concentration of a camping trip is all the fun things you get to do like hiking, canoeing, and making s'mores, you still need to figure out what you're going to pack and wear while you're doing all these fun things! The weekend that we went camping in Cuyahoga Valley National Park was a hot one. I'm talking like hottest weekend of the year, 90 degrees hot. I had to make conscious decisions on what I was going to wear to ensure that I wouldn't overheat but I would also have enough protection while hiking through the woods.
Camping is lots and lots of fun. But packing for a camping trip can be extra tricky. It's always cold in the morning, hot in the afternoon, and humid at night...at least in the Midwest it is. So packing for 3 different types of temperatures can be tough. Not to mention what if it rains?! Well, for our camping trip this past weekend we had all those scenarios to the extreme it seems like. Even the rain...it was supposed to thunderstorm the 2nd afternoon that we were on our trip, but guess what...there wasn't even a cloud in the sky! Go figure. Here is what I brought along though to ensure I was fully prepared to have a great time no matter what the weather threw at us.
Day 1 >> Drive Chicago has some of the most beautiful outdoor spaces I've ever been to. Parks, gardens, conservatories, the lakefront, it's a gorgeous place! And who would think that when half the year we live in a frigid snow globe? Well it's true though, Chicago has some marvelous places, especially when all the snow melts away and the sun comes out to play.
Even though this trip was taken a couple months ago I still feel like this packing list is very relevant because it's still wedding season! Packing for a wedding can sometimes be very easy or very hard. In my case it was easy this time around since I was in the bridal party and that eliminated me having to pack anything for day 2 of our weekend trip! Friday was full of outfit changes though, so I tried to pack minimally for Sunday and not have any changes that day. I got all this expect my purse to fit cleanly in to my weekender bag...success!
Day 1 >> Drive & Lunch
Day 1 >> Rehearsal & Dinner
Calling all horse lovers! Arlington Park is a horse lovers paradise. The race track is situated in the suburbs of Chicago and far out enough away from the hustle and bustle of the city that you can really enjoy a day at the races. Last weekend I had the opportunity to do just that!
On our third and final day in Portland I decided to go for comfort all throughout. We did so much exploring on our last day plus went straight to the airport that night after dinner.
I put a ton of thought behind the outfits that I packed for our Portland trip last month, and according to Portland I was spot on! Every day I was there I was asked if I was showing Ashlyn around her new city. It was fun to just smile and say, "no I live in Chicago and I'm just along for the ride."
A little less than a month ago I went on a trip with my best friend Ashlyn out to Portland, OR! She is moving there next week, so I tagged along with her last month to help her find an apartment and explore her new city! Packing for this trip was interesting because we flew with Spirit Airlines and you have to pay for a carry on with them! So we decided to share a checked bag because checking a bag is cheaper than one carry on let alone two carry ons. So I had minimal space to work with, but I think I did a pretty good job!
Day 1 // Flight
Happy Belated Derby Day! I hope you all were extra lucky this past Saturday! We sure were with winning on the Kentucky Derby for the very first time! As most of you know, but for those of you that don't, the Kentucky Derby is one of the biggest days in American sports every year. We all get super dressed up and head to the race track. This year Caleb and I stayed local for the race and spent a gorgeous spring Saturday at Arlington Park. Hopefully one year in the future we will get to go to Churchill Downs in Kentucky for the real deal! However, everyone makes a pretty good fashion statement at Arlington, so naturally Caleb and I have to join in on the fun.
