One of the beautiful places that we explored on our last day in Portland was the Portland Japanese Garden. It is nestled in Washington Park and is quite literally a sanctuary!
They charge $9.50 to get in to the garden, but it is worth it. They request for you to be silent and put all cellphones away while inside the garden. These requests just make the garden that much more peaceful if you ask me, and I was happy to oblige.
We walked around for about an hour and truly enjoyed ourselves. There was so much diversity to look at in the garden. Trees, flowers, and Japanese antiques were all over this beautiful outdoor space. This garden is modeled off of a true Japanese garden in Japan. It is almost as if you are transported from Oregon to Japan when you enter the garden.
This little section of Washington Park is worth putting on your agenda while in Portland at least once. It's well worth your time and you'll come out feeling a little bit more peaceful then when you went in.
The Portland Japanese Garden is located at 611 SW Kingston Ave. Portland, OR.
