Like I said in my last packing post, we made a short trip out to Des Moines a couple weekends ago for a friend's bridal shower. After the shower we had lots of time to explore before our night out! It was raining all afternoon, so we had to do an indoor activity. We planned on going to the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden, which worked out for the most part.
The Botanical Gardens have a conservatory, garden house, and outdoor gardens. With the rain we were only able to explore the conservatory and the garden house. We were okay with it though because they were both so beautiful!
There was so much to look at in both rooms. The conservatory was really humid and at one point very foggy due to them hydrating the plants. The garden room was more comfortable in terms of the temperature. The garden house had so many beautiful flowers, and they were all set up by individuals who love to garden and arrange.
The conservatory was so full of life! There were many prom groups and even a bridal party that came in to take some photos. The only downside to the place was that it cost $8 per person to get in! I thought that was a little steep, but they do need something to help with the upkeep and keeping the place beautiful, I suppose.
Overall we had a lovely time. It took less than an hour to work through the two parts we got to see. Hopefully next time we'll be able to go outside and enjoy some lovely weather and even more plants and flowers!
What is your favorite plant or flower? I'm personally a peony girl!
