Some DIY home furniture projects can be a lot of work. However, this fun little DIY to liven up our TV stand wasn't too bad. As you can see, before it use to be a dark espresso wood color and now it is a bright green color. We started working on building our coffee table this weekend, which is going to be a dark wood stain, too. So with that, plus our black bookcases and dark hardwood floors, we decided it would be nice to have a colorful piece of furniture in the living room. So I give you our simple yet effective, DIY TV Stand project!
What you'll need:
Take the piece of furniture apart if you so choose, so you can get all the nicks and crannies. Take the bad boy outside and have at it with the spray paint. We only needed one coat on each piece, too. Make sure you let each piece dry for about 2 hours before you flip anything to do the opposite side. We waited about 3 hours before bringing everything inside, and didn't put all of our movies back inside it until the next day. But that was literally it. Just some spray paint and an afternoon was all it took to transform our TV stand! We're planning on buying some new knobs for it from Anthropologie in the coming weeks to give it more of a quaint look rather than the modern look it has now with the silver knobs it came with.
- 2 to 3 cans of spray paint of whatever color you're thinking. We went to Menards and got the Rust-Oleum Paints Touch - Ultra Cover 2x Coverage in Satin leafy green. It's good for wood, metal, and plastic.
- A tarp
- A screw driver (Optional for wanting to take the furniture apart)
- New knobs (Optional)
