Spring time is such a wonderful time. We all feel refreshed and are itching to be outside after a long winter of hibernating by the fire. Now that the weather is finally reflecting actual spring weather, it's time to come out of our caves and explore! Here are 7 fun things to try out on your weekends this season!
1. Festivals
Festival season is finally here. Start hitting up the ones in your area for good food, music, and company. You can find the schedule for Chicago's festivals here.
2. DIY Projects
Let me paint you a picture (punny I know ;) ), windows open, nice breeze coming in through them, sipping some lemonade, and crafting. Ahhhh, does that not sound wonderful? I'm surely going to be spending a lot of my time doing little crafty things for my apartment like this!
3. Road Trips
Aren't mini, not extremely far, but just far enough road trips oh so perfect? I think so, too. Take a day trip out to a neighboring state or just out to a different region of your own state and explore for the day! I know Caleb and I have a few of these listed on our #EpEx14 list...I'll let you in on one of them...we're going antiquing out in Le Claire, IL down the Great River Road!
4. Outdoor Exercising
Nothing too strenuous, because who wants to do a full blown workout on a Saturday afternoon? Not me, that's for sure! Go for a bike ride or schedule some time with friends to play tennis! I just bought a new bike a couple weeks ago and can't wait to ride around town every weekend!
5. Picnics
The combination of lunch out and good company sounds so perfect to me. I can't wait to ^ride my bike^ out to the woods with my puppy, man, and good food to sit and enjoy the nature and eat. Find some routes and picnic areas around you, and go out and enjoy! If you live out in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago like I do, here is a nice little map of Busse Woods for the trails and picnic spots.
6. Spring Cleaning
Out with the old and in with the new. While outside is becoming rejuvenated, so should your home and closet. A couple weekends of deep cleaning, organizing, and donating will do wonders for your attitude. Bringing out all your spring clothes, putting all your winter clothes away, and purging all your old stuff will definitely lift your spirits! Plus you gotta make room for these...or at least I do!
7. Cook
Or grill. Try out some new recipes for drinks, appetizers, dishes, and desserts! You'll be more than prepared for summer kick off parties and all the BBQ's you'll be getting invited to/hosting in the coming months. You can bet I'll be throwing this together soon!
